Monoprint Collage

First let me explain what a mono print is. A mono print is a single print made only once from a printing plate. In this case I use a gelatin printing plate with acrylic paint. I use stencils and stamp I’ve made to create pattern and focal points and print on a variety of papers. I especially like printing on old book pages and journal pages so that the words peek through the print.  After a printing session I’ll have a stack of small prints to play with in a collage. Sometimes I’ll use the prints exclusively and sometimes I’ll add other papers and images from my stash. The papers are collaged onto sturdy canvas panels – sometimes I’ll add spray paint pattern on top or a little glitter to give a sparkle and lead the eye from place to place.
