Again and Again We Are Invited In
The metaphor of doors opened, and door closed sparked the creation of this piece “Again and Again We Are Invited In”. It features wide open doors of homes about to be torn down in my neighborhood, open doors, open hands all invitation to enter. The finished piece is approximately the size of a door. It was the first large substantial piece I made in Arkansas. It felt like a renaissance. It is me but a new me. A deeper more authentic me. This 36×70″ piece is made of photos printed on cotton, stitched a layered with both commercial and hand printed fabrics. It is stitched densely with machine free motion stitching the a final layer of hand stitched in red peal cotton. Created Fall 2022
