SUMMARY:Birds & Blues: color & stitch - Stitch Fest\, Lancaster PA
DESCRIPTION:Birds & Blues is an exploration of fabric coloration and stitch to create a personal unique art quilt. Class will begin by learning how to use fabric dye pastels and then colorizing the nine 4×4? bird block prints provided in your kit. Then let the stitch begin! Your kit has three 10x10inch hand dyed indigo panels you can add other fabrics of your choice to finish out the other 6 squares. Your finished blocks can be framed individually or stitch together in any combination to create a larger art quilt or strung together to create a set of pennants. SUMMARY:Botanical Printing with Gel Plate
DESCRIPTION:Mono-printing with a gel plate is incredibly easy to learn and the results are amazing! Lisa Thorpe of @lisathorpeartist\, a mixed media and fiber artist and educator leads this fun class.\nYou’ll learn how to apply a thin layer of acrylic paint with a brayer to a soft\, pliable 4×6 inch gel plate\, place a leaf or flower on the surface and pull your first print. You’ll then create ghost prints\, 2-color prints\, and over-prints as well. We will print on old book pages for added interest. Your botanical prints can be used to make cards or used in collage work. If you would like to experiment with printing on something other than book pages\, feel free to bring your own paper for experimenting – please have your paper pre-cut to 5”x7”. All materials for a morning of print exploration are included in the $15 materials fee\, along with a resource list of materials if you get the printing bug and want to continue on your own! Ages 12+\, please. \nSpace is limited to 10 so please sign up now to reserve you spot!
