Pet Projects: fur babies in fabric Virtual Workshop

We all love our sweet faithful pets and now you get to honor yours in fabric. When you sign up for class you will email photo of your pet to me– I’ll manipulate your pet photo in the Oli app and print on cotton fabric in two color ways for you to play with. If you don’t have a pet picture just request a cat, dog, rabbit etc and I will create an image for you. I will share my process of creating these images and how I print them on my home printer for you to try later. After a demonstration of design and composition each participant will begin creating their own Pet Project art quilt. What’s in the Kit? – two printed pet images- approximately 3.5×5 inches each  (two color ways done in the Olli app- see Olli app colorways in photos ) , one 12×12 inch felt for backing + 5.5×8.5 felt to back pet,  small paper and fabric ephemera for embellishment + plus oodles of pet project examples to inspire.

Supplies Students need :

Most of what you need for this class you already have. This is a great way to use scraps and bits you’ve been saving but don’t know why!

• 1 yard Wonder Under or Misty Fuse or other brand double fabric fuse you like
• iron (parchment or Teflon sheet is good to protect iron from fuse)
• Small pieces of fabric to use in collage. A gallon size bag of scraps in colors you love will be more than enough – hand dyed and printed fabric especially nice.
• Buttons, ribbons, lace – dig through your stash.
• Rotary cutter, cutting matt + Ruler (don’t have these tools? scissors will work)
• A pair of fabric scissors
• Your sewing machine and a variety of threads*
• Optional Embroidery floss or pearl cotton of your choice, needles for hand stitch if you want to add textural embellishment

*Sewing Machine needed? The class is designed to use a sewing machine but fusing and hand stitching only is possible if you prefer.
