{"id":1735,"date":"2013-09-27T09:56:56","date_gmt":"2013-09-27T16:56:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lisathorpeartist.wordpress.com\/?p=1735"},"modified":"2013-09-27T09:56:56","modified_gmt":"2013-09-27T16:56:56","slug":"supported-an-uplifting-story","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lisathorpe.com\/index.php\/2013\/09\/27\/supported-an-uplifting-story\/","title":{"rendered":"Supported: an uplifting story"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_1737\" style=\"width: 520px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/lisathorpeartist.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/09\/159b-green.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1737\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1737\" alt=\"&quot;Supported Green&quot; featured in the Oct\/Nov issue of Quilting Arts\" src=\"http:\/\/lisathorpeartist.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/09\/159b-green.jpg?resize=510%2C737\" width=\"510\" height=\"737\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1737\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">&#8220;Supported Green&#8221; featured in the Oct\/Nov issue of Quilting Arts<\/p><\/div>\n<p>I am excited to share my latest article in Quilting Arts Magazine.\u00a0 This is a great issue about artist giving back.\u00a0 I submitted the art quilt of the bra and the words supported back in the spring.\u00a0 Earlier in the year I had donated a wooden art piece using this image to a Cloth Paper Scissors auction designed to raise money for breast cancer research.\u00a0 As it happens the editor of Quilting Arts magazine bought that piece.\u00a0 She told me later that she had intended to give it to a friend with breast cancer but then soon after found out she herself had breast cancer.\u00a0 She found this image to be a powerful reminder that she was not alone in her struggle.\u00a0 I was gratified hear this story and humbled to know that I could help comfort through my art in some small way.\u00a0 I love the bra image and decided to play around with it and the \u201csupported\u201d message in fabric.\u00a0 This exploration lead to the magazine article I am sharing with you today.\u00a0 The editor (cancer free now!), of QA had the idea of offering a the bra image as a stencil to the public as a fund raiser for breast cancer research.\u00a0 I collaborated with Stencil Girl, a fabulous art stencil company, to make the mass-produced stencil of the bra image.
