Spend the afternoon discovering the wonders of marbling on fabric! I will demonstrate how to make the thickened water base, how to mix the acrylic paints so they are light enough to float on the thickened water and how to manipulate the paints in different ways to make a variety of marbled patterns. You will experiment with small pieces (6x10”) fabric, and by the end of the afternoon you will have 8-12 marbled pieces to take home and play with.
Printing on rice papers, tissues papers, book pages, and other substrates, you’ll spend the morning creating a fat stack of monoprints using Gelli plates. You’ll learn fun and easy monoprinting techniques using botanicals, stencils, and texture tools.
Cut-Glue-Wax-Embellish. That’s it, that’s encaustic collage. Come to this fantastic Playshop with Lisa Thorpe, and enjoy a lovely day of creative process and go home with a stack of your creative products. No experience is needed just a willingness to experiment and play. Lisa will bring her stash of art papers, embellishments, wax and tools.

Whatever kind of guide you need you can express yourself through this two-day mixed media workshop. Your Saint can be serious or silly, meditative or magical it’s up to you!
Inspired by cut paper snowflakes, beautiful Mexican Papel Picado and Hawaiian applique patterns these cut and fuse fabric squares are easy to do, and just like snow flakes no two are alike! You can make as many fused squares as you like to use in a quilted panel, table runner or pillow front. In the first session I will teach you how to create a cut paper pattern to transfer to fabric and fuse to backing square. In the second session you will begin to embellish your cut fabric squares with simple embroidery stitches that I will teach (or review as the case may be). Must be a confident begining machine stitcher to participate. Class is for making the quilt squares with embroidery only.
