Seasons: Quilt Haiku Stitch Kit  is devised to bring out the creativity of the maker. There is no set pattern, you’ll find detailed instructions to inspire and support your vision in the creation of one 12×12” art quilt. You may be inspired by these quotes and songs … the seasons go round and round, for everything there is a season, the seasons of our life, turn, turn turn – they are meaningful to us because they are true and make use stop and consider the beauty of the season we are in as we ponder the one we just left and anticipate the one to come. Such comfort in the pattern. These thoughts and musings are the basis for this kit.

This kit supplies the seasonal colors, trees, birds and words for you to design and stitch a one-of-a-kind 12”x12” layered  fabric collage on backing felt included in the kit. The foliage is up to you I show samples made with buttons and beads, fabric scraps or embroidery stitch – you may have some other creative ideas you want to use. Depending on your preference you can hand stitch the entire piece, use a sewing machine or both. Designed for all stitch levels.

I designed the printed fabric panel from hand painting the seasonal colored squares, the trees are prints of a hand carved stamp that was designed and carved by my mom, Mary Thorpe, and printed here in browns and white for winter. The birds are also from one of my favorite stamps.  Words round out the design if you like me want words there are some to choose from.

What’s in the kit? you’ll find a 24”x14” panel of printed cotton with 4 seasonal color squares, 4 trees, numerous birds & words, a 24”x14” piece of WonderUnder paper back fuse, 12”x12” backing felt, plus very detailed directions to make a unique one of a kind art quilt.
What you need to gather to create your art quilt:
This kit can be all hand stitch or a combo of machine and hand stitch.
To complete your art quilt you’ll need needle and embroidery thread, optional sewing machine, scissors, iron and ironing pad. For leafy foliage there are lots of options: collect or buy buttons and beads, pull fabric scraps from your scrap bin, or use embroidery thread to stitch or… some other wonderful idea you have!
